Pt2: Dating peeves

Yesterday I ranted about every day pet peeves.  Today, it's dating pet peeves.  These are basically deal breakers for me.  All are things that I have pissed me off in past relationships, and I refuse to deal with them now or in the future.  Don't like it?  Move on.

Being straight out rude to my friends/family.  I understand people have issues with other people, I do.  But let's be nice to those I care about in front of me.  Unless they purposely provoke you, pissing me off isn't going to be worth your time.  I'm a bitch.  You probably know this already, but you will send me into super bitch mode.  They were here before you, and chances are they will be here after you.  They are part of what has shaped me into who I am, so if you really do care about me you should be thankful for them.

Dropping off the face of the planet.  Dear god, what don't guys understand that this is NO WAY to keep a girl interested.  You are all awesome and wanna hang out all the time, and then out of nowhere you don't talk to me or show up in social settings.  I've had so many guys get mad when I lose interest because of this.  Do you expect me to just sit around waiting on you?  Sorry, if you act like you aren't interested anymore, I won't be.  I understand things come up, shit happens.  Give me some indication you're still interested.  Don't wait until I'm talking to someone else to decide to tell me you want to be with me.  I'm not going to come running back.  I'll be your friend and that's about it.

Those stupid flirt/dating apps.  OMG!!!  This caused a major rift a little over a year ago, and I will not compromise on it.  You're seeing someone.  How's about we don't use a singles app to flirt.  If you don't want to flirt with me, leave!  That is the equivalent of flirting with other girls in person.  I saw what was said the last time this happened, and let's just say he had every right to hide it from me.  That's a form of cheating.  If you can't show me because you know it will bother me, you shouldn't be doing it.  I stop "talking" to all other guys when I'm with someone, why can't you do the same?  If you can do it, I can do it.  And I'm worse.  Having a vagina usually means the person is a lot better at flirting and teasing and whatnot.  And trust me, I know how.  Let's not cause super bitch here.

Not giving me girl time.  I need time to be a girl.  Don't get me wrong I like spending time with you, but I go a lil nuts when I don't get to see my girls.  They keep me grounded.  And it makes you seem clingy if you don't spend time with the guys.  Clingy is bad.  I get resentful and well my girls get mad.  Not fun to deal with.

Arguing about stupid shit.  Yeah if I have to explain this one, you're hopeless.

Not going on dates.  This is what has helped kill ummmmm all of my relationships.  God, take to me to dinner every now and then, show me off.  If you're ashamed and don't want to, leave.  I don't need gourmet food to be happy.  Hell, take me to McDonald's but make it fun.  Fun is all that matters.  Take me dancing.  This gets you points.  I love to go dancing.  Picnic, walks, sitting under the stars in the middle of nowhere, etc etc etc.  There are SOOOO many things you can do.

Ugh I have a lot more, but these are my major ones.  The rest I can deal with to a point.  Sadly, these are pretty universal but a lot of guys do them all...  Show me one that doesn't do at least one on a regular basis...  Maybe I'm too picky, but I know one day someone will be able to live up to this.  I'll be patient.  Ish.  lol

Notice I make no mention of ex's?  I don't have a problem with ex's as long as they don't cause a problem for us.  I still talk to most of mine, they were friends before we dated.  Why can't we be friends after?

I gotta get out of the apartment, it's too pretty outside.

Beware the Ides of March!

Pet Peeves pt1

I have begun to realize that many things bother me.  Big surprise there if you know me, right?  So, I decided I would make a list.  Just so ya know, you know why I get aggravated with you or something lol.  There are actually two categories: things anyone can do and things the person I'm dating can do.  Yep, I have a whole other set of things for that one.  Here goes nothin!  Oh, and feedback is more than welcome on this one.

Hand washing.  Having a mother in the medical field and having worked with food and blood, this is a huge thing for me!  I don't wash my hands every other minute or anything, but when you go to the restroom (especially a public one), wash your damn hands.  There are sooooo many germs and bacteria in restrooms!  You can even pick up STIs *gasp!*  Okay maybe not with your hands, unless you like to wipe your hands on toilet seats, but still...

Not brushing your teeth/showering.  Um, you're gonna stink.  I don't want to smell it.  Plus, you look all greasy and gross.  I seem to have a thing about personal hygiene.  Don't get me wrong, if you just plan on sitting at your house all day or only making a quick cigarette trip I can understand not showering (unless you reek).  Hell, I do that occasionally.  Please don't come into my place of employment or a social setting without at least a quick shower and some mouthwash.  Oh, and deodorant.  BO just disgusts me.

Digging into parts of my personal life that are none of your business.  Unless I share it with you, let's not discuss it shall we?  It's personal for a reason.  If I do discuss it with you, that doesn't mean I want everyone to know about it, so let's not bring it up in public.  It's just bad manners.

Disgusting eating habits.  Don't get me wrong, eat all the strange food you want.  I do.  But how about we use utensils with foods that need it?  And don't chomp.  I don't want to see it while your chewing.  Gross.  When people shovel food in their mouth, it disturbs me.  How can you enjoy what you're eating?  This one is kinda a dating thing too.  Please don't be gross or impolite on a date, I WILL NOT go on another date with you.

Bad driving habits.  Please go at least the speed limit, but not way over it either.  And know the right-a-ways.  If someone gets to the stop sign before you, they have precedence.  Ugh, and not paying attention to traffic lights.  I may run a yellow light every now and then, not purposely, but I stop at reds and don't go until it's green.  I was almost hit head on last night by a guy who wasn't paying attention and decided when my light turned green to go across, he could go left across my lane.  My heart almost stopped.  Thankfully the jackass realized his light was still red and stopped in time to miss me.  I can't really bitch about cellphone usage while driving, because I do it, but if you can't drive and do it.  Don't.  I prefer if people don't do it at night or in construction/heavy traffic though.  I try to avoid those just because the risks are much greater.  Be safe.

Telling me my beliefs are wrong.  Big deal to me, this one.  (ha, Yoda sounding)  Everyone has their own beliefs on religion, politics, education, etc, etc, etc.  I will respect the fact that we may not agree, please do the same.  If you want to have a discussion or debate, I'm always up for that, but do not tell me that I'm wrong just because you don't believe in the same things I do.  I was raised to think for myself (thank you mommy and daddy!), and our country was founded on the idea of free thinking.  I don't understand why people think everyone must believe the same things.  Where would we be?  There would be no variety in life.  Hell, why would you even talk to other people?  You would know their opinions already, so why ask?

Treating animals badly.  Ugh!!!  Domestic animals usually do not know how to fend for themselves.  Take care of them.  Don't beat them, starve them, or be a horrible pet owner in general.  If you can't take care of your pet, find someone who can and will.  I understand most of us work, so you can't spend every moment with them.  It happens.  But love on them.  I take Tank to the dog park as often as I can so he gets exercise and meets new dogs, since I live in an apartment.  He also gets doggy playdates occasionally.  The ex has been good about letting me bring him over to see his big sister Roxi, they both need it.  Choke collars.  &$%^#^%$*%!!!!  Please do not use them unless you know how.  They are not good for dogs to begin with, but in the hands of an inexperienced person they are dangerous to the poor animal.  They are for training purposes.  They are not a substitute for a real collar or harness.  How about you let me put that around your neck and pull you around for a day or two and let those spikes dig into your neck???  No?  Then don't do it to your dog.

Okay, this was longer than I expected.  I'll have to do the dating one separate.  I don't want to bog you guys down.  I just needed to get this out lol.

What are your pet peeves?  Anything you would add to my reasonings?

Happy Pi Day, Hump Day, and Steak and a BJ Day!!!

Love!!

What's New with you? Well, ya see this one time...

It has been a crazy month or so it seems.  I lost my job last month, but hey!  I found a new one and I start a week from today, which kicks ass, especially since it's at my favorite place.  Tank and I lost Cleo a few weeks ago, which has been hard on both of us but him the most.  We're learning how to deal with just the two of us: walks, dog park, just chillin' watching tv.  Thankfully, my friends are the best and have been my wall anytime I need it.

While I haven't been working, I have been staying busy.  I've been spending a lot of time with the girls and the new boy.  I've been trying to catch up on my reading, but that's difficult to do with a perpetual puppy in the house lol.  I've been taking a lot of pictures of everything when I can.

CC's 23rd birthday was earlier this month.  We went out to Jazzmo's in Bricktown.  If I could afford it, I'd eat there all the time.  It's cajun style cuisine.  Instead of opting for my usual of salmon or catfish, I went out on a limb and ordered chicken fried alligator.  It was good, but really didn't have a distinct flavor which was disappointing.  You know the old saying "It tastes like chicken"?   Yeah, well it did... The gator bites I nabbed from Trulock were great though!

CC, AE, and I at O'Connell's karaoke.  It's a tradition now.

CC's birthday at Jazzmo's.  Love that place!  She and I shared oysters, while everyone shared entrees lol.
Tank has been making so many new friends lately at the dog park.  Bestie has been taking her two dogs out with us, and he loves those girls!  Belle looks like a mini-me when she's next to him.  Today there was a beautiful great dane out.  Tank decided he wanted to play with him.  Poor Tank kept getting run over and trampled, so he settled for barking and running back and forth.
Tank at the dog park.  He loves little dogs.

Sometimes they can be a bit feisty though.

"Hey, whatcha doin?  I wanna play!"

"You're a bit bigger than me..."

Such a happy boy, I love him to pieces.
Yes, there is a new boy.  Well sorta.  Yeah, I don't know how to describe the situation at the moment.  I'm happy though, that's all that matters.  And Tank loves him, which is a must.  He seems to really like Tank too (again, a must).  When it's just Tank and I, he lays around, but when the boy is around he's hyper and crazy.  It's adorable.
Oddly enough, he latched onto the new boy quite quickly.

Yeah, he didn't like me taking this picture lol.
Other than that, I've been job hunting.  Successfully, I might add.  This was my celebration this evening.  After a drunken one the other night.  I almost turned in THAT GIRL that night, almost but not quite THANK GOD!!!  Bought some Cinderella heels (Pink and glittery) and danced all night lol.
SUSHI!!!  Bestie, my old roommate and I had dinner together tonight.  Our favorite food EVA!

I've been doing a lot of cooking too.  Sometime this week, I'm going to some random foreign food market in the metro with Logan.  I'm excited to try even more new things.  I'll even take pictures for you guys, not like you didn't expect that though.

Well, off to have a beer or two to end a pretty damn good day.  Happy Monday!!

Love!!!

Riddle me This?

So while I've been getting ready for the new job (EEEEKKK!!!), I have neglected you.  I have a whole slue of updates that I have planned for tomorrow complete with photo documentation.  Until then, I leave you with this lil gem.

1. What’s your favorite pizza topping(s)?
EVERYTHING!!!  Seriously, the more toppings the better.  However, I miss being able to make my own.  Yep, worked a pizza place for nearly 4 years so I ended up with my own creation. (not that that's surprising)  Canadian bacon, bacon, Italian sausage, black olives, mushrooms, with ranch baked in with the marinara on a deep dish.  Fucking amazing.
2. If you could re-do your wedding, what would you do differently, and why?
Um, yeah not married.  How about not having to pay for a damn thing if I ever decide to?  Oh and a big, poofy dress and killer heels.  That's about it.
3. Cats or dogs?
Both.  Currently just have Tank, but I'm thinking about getting him a cat friend.  Dogs are fun and extremely loyal.  Cats you have to earn their respect.  I really can't pick just one.  I grew up with both.
4. What is your favorite thing to make for dinner? And can I have the recipe?
Anything random.  I really liked cooking that octopus, it just takes FOREVER.  I guess fish and seafood are my favorite.  Or mashed potatoes.  Love those!
5. What is your cocktail of choice?
Cherry Vodka Sour or Bloody Mary, oddly enough I don't like vodka.  I don't know why I like vodka drinks.  Tequila's great too.  Anything with tequila is a go for me!  OOOO and wineritas mix two of my favorites: wine and tequila.  HEAVEN!
6. How many scars do you have on you, and what are they from?
A metric shit ton.  Yeah, I think that's about right.  Mostly from chicken pox as a kid.  Although I do fall a lot and end up with scars.  I have one on my ass from getting a cyst removed from my tailbone.  Yes, I have a scar on my ass.  No, I didn't have a tail.  Why would you think that?
7. If you could replace any one thing in your house right now, what would you replace?
The light bulbs, half of them are out.  I'm too short to reach them and don't have a chair or stool to stand on.  Oh, and that leaky faucet in my tub.  It's just annoying.  Thankfully I don't pay water at my apartment.
8. What do you usually eat for breakfast?
Breakfast?  What's that?  Lol, it depends.  I love breakfast food and tend to just do bacon and eggs or cereal.  If I were patient enough I'd make pancakes but when it's that early I just wanna eat!
9. What’s your favorite flavor of Girl Scout cookies?
Thin Mints and Samoas.  I actually have a box of Samoas in my freezer at the moment.  I ordered Thin Mints this year but the crazy woman never brought them to me... I want my $7 dollars back...
10.Winter or summer?
Summer=clothing optional!!!  And being on the river with booze.  Which also means clothing optional.  Just ask Sarcasm Goddess about naked pool beer pong.
11. How many pieces of jewelry are you typically wearing on a regular day?
9.  I had 11 but took two of them out.  Yes, SG I took out 2 piercings.  They kinda got ripped out.  Give ya two guesses which ones!!!  Lol

Bout Time I Cooked that Damn Octopus!!

I've had this tentacled THING in my freezer for like a month now.  You know, the things that live in the ocean and have suckers on their tentacles?  Yeah, one of those.  I kinda bought it on a whim.  Had no idea how to cook it or if I would be able to eat it after I attempted to cook it.  I looked all over the internet for a recipe that sounded like something I would make and enjoy (and that I could share with my friends, cause who wants to eat an octopus experiment alone?  Not this girl!).  I found some decent ones, even some that I may try next time, but not one that made me go: THAT ONE!
He was kinda cute lol

Soooo you know me, I just decided to wing it.  Once I got the balls to, of course.  And someone who was brave enough to try my experiment (Cue Miss Logan lol).
Off with his head!  Yeah, don't eat that part.

I made Octopus Parmigiana.  Sounds fancy, right?  Considering how long it took to prepare the damned thing, yeah it pretty much was.  Prepare the octopus, not the whole meal.  Dear god, it takes hours to get an octopus fit for consumption....

The prep actually depends on how large the octopus is and what you want to end up cooking it in, so I'm going to link you to the page I used as my starting point.  Since I was doin it up Italiana-style, my "nest" of herbs consisted of the following:
  • dried basil (crushed)
  • chopped rosemary
  • chopped parsley
  • chopped thyme
  • chopped garlic
  • ground black pepper
  • sea salt
    • (I also added some random stuff I add to everything: paprika and greek seasoning, but that kinda veers away from the theme I have going here)
Here's what the bugger looked like after braising.

When it says that the octopus will absorb the flavor, it does.  To a point.  I think my pot I baked it in was too large so the herbs were quite spread out.  This entire process (blanching and braising) alone took about 3.5 hours... If you get a large octopus, it will take longer.

On to the easier part.

For my sauce:
  • 1-2 cans of crushed tomatoes (consistence of these are awesome for marinara)
  • same herbs as above
  • diced onion
Pretty damn simple, huh?  Just saute the onion and garlic in some extra virgin olive oil until transparent.  Then add the rest and heat.

You have to marinade the octopus, as well.  I coated it with the above herb mixture, some olive oil, and some Italian bread crumbs.  Throw it in a skillet until the breading mixture starts to brown, then put in an oven at 500 degrees with mozzarella and parmesan cheese (or whatever types you prefer), and bake for about 5 minutes.

I put mine over egg noodles, but the type really isn't important.  What is important is that it was AMAZING!!!  We ate the shit out of it.  We barely had enough to leave the boys any.  Well, one off the boys any way since he asked, the other missed out (lmfao!).
The cheese makes it look a bit gross, but it looks great in person.  Promise.

I do have to say cleaning the octopus after braising it was disgusting.  Like most animals, there is a layer of fatty tissue between the skin (or outer membrane) and it must be removed.  I am not a squeamish girl, but when I first started cleaning it I was a bit unnerved.  When I got over the initial shock it was quite fun.  Yes, I like playing with gross, mushy, gooey things at times.
Partially naked octopus!

Naked!!!!
It was sooo much fun cooking this!!  I recommend buying more than one octopus if you are trying to feed more than two people.  This was a little smaller than we though at 1.5 pounds.  Next time I'm going to try the Mexican soup or Greek salad I saw when looking for recipes.  They sounded yummy but the ingredients seemed a bit more expensive than I can afford at the moment.

I hope you guys enjoyed this.  I'm off to finish the first season of Game of Thrones and then bed.

Contemplations

I've been thinking a lot lately on my present situation.  I'm single, working full-time, have a wonderful dog, and people who care so much in my life.  I'm outgoing, love to laugh, a good listener, will try just about anything, love sports, and hate to see others upset.  I cook, write, sing, dance, love deeply, and work hard.  At times I wonder why I can't find someone who wants to be with someone like this.  Then I found this quote:

Maybe some women aren't meant to be tamed. Maybe they just need to run free till they find someone just as wild to run with them. Sandra Elhelw

This is my problem.  Too many people try to tame my crazy side.  I flirt.  I drink.  I smoke.  I stay up all night.  I'd rather spend a day with the guys than the girls.   I need someone who can keep up with me.  Who will love all of me.  Not just the great parts--and there's quite a few of those haha--but my flaws, my quirks, my moods, the things about me that drive most people crazy.  I'm young, I'll eventually calm down a little bit.

While I may be single, I do have someone that likes to be around me that I like to be with.  I don't know where it's going or if it's going to go anywhere.  I'm happy with things the way they are.  Change is inevitable, I'll roll with it however it goes.

Just a few more quotes to end the night.

Real love is knowing someone's weaknesses and not taking advantage of them. Knowing their flaws & accepting who they are.

Women have a bad habit of holding on too long, Men have a bad habit of letting go too easily

My current status: Wanted by many, taken by none, looking at some, but waiting for one.

I am not single, I'm romantically challenge.

Real Women are classy, strong, independent, loyal and loveable. One thing about them is they know they deserve better.

Someone asked: R u not getting tired of being hurt ?!
I replied: I can handle it. They asked: Till when ?!
I smiled and said: Till someone is tired of hurting me.

Forget what has hurt you in the past, but never forget what it has taught you.

Honesty

Honesty (according to Merriam-Webster)
obsolete : chastity
a : fairness and straightforwardness of conduct b : adherence to the facts : sincerity
If you know me, you know I have a habit of being bluntly honest.  I pride myself on this.  Yes, I may sugar-coat things at times, but that's only when I feel harshness would make the situation worse.  If I don't like you or some decision you have/are making, you'll know it.  I'm going to support my friends to do what makes them happy even if I don't agree with it.  It's not my life, I can't decide what is best for anyone other than me.

So I'm going to be completely and bluntly honest about somethings.

Life sucks for the most part at the moment.

I've gotten past the ex.  I haven't gotten past his actions.  But let's face it, things were over between us long before I ended it.  I just didn't want to believe it.  There is nothing in my posts on here to back this up, but I don't like bashing and it would have looked that way.  We became toxic and volatile around each other long before moving into the Lafayette house.  It just wasn't as often.  I've moved on.  I am interested in someone else and he seems pretty interested in me.  Things aren't perfect, they never will be.  That's what makes it interesting.  It still hurts to know how quickly I was replaced, but really he was moving on before it was over too.  We should have saved ourselves a lot of pain and arguing and the splitting of friends and just ended it when we both realized things had went to shit.  Lesson learned.

I was fired a little over two weeks ago.  Completely my fault.  I was late one too many times.  They even gave me extra chances.  Most of my screw ups were over the summer.  When things got bad between the ex and I.  I let that affect my attendance and I shouldn't have.  As much as I loved that job and the people I worked with, honestly I was looking for something more, something better.  It was barely paying the bills and drove me crazy a lot.  Yes, I would love to go back.  Yes, I miss my coworkers.  But I see this as chance to try something new.  To find something more along my skills set that pays better.  The people that really cared past just working together have kept in touch.  I've done my best to do the same with those I had come to care about.  Again, lesson learned.

Recently, little Cleo passed away.  It was very sudden.  I found her Saturday.  From the looks of her and what I described to the vet tech, they think she had a seizure.  She had one months ago, so it wasn't the first.  I caught that one in time.  Not this one.  I am completely shattered by this.  I don't have kids, so my dogs are my children.  She was still a puppy.  I loved that crazy thing so much.  She made me laugh every day.  Tank is pretty broken up about it.  He keeps looking for her.  It breaks my heart.  He loved his little sister as much as I did.  I've been taking him on long walks and giving him extra attention so he doesn't stay depressed.  Right now, he's asleep in my lap.  He's been like this for almost two hours, waking up only when I went out to smoke a cigarette.  He's all I have now.  If he was spoiled before, he's going to be super spoiled now.  I feel like an awful puppy momma because I couldn't do anything for her.  Even now, I'm tearing up at the thought.

After all this, I ended up upsetting my two best friends, the only two people who have stuck by my side through everything.  Talk about feeling awful...  I tried to be honest with them about a situation and ended up going about it in a bad way.  I was caught off guard and was already in a bad mood...  I don't know if things will work themselves out or not.  I hope so.  I have apologized for the way things went down, but the reason I am uncomfortable with the situation that was the cause is not something I will apologize for.  I do not feel I should have to defend myself in that.  My reasoning is not wrong for me, maybe for them, but not me.  I just didn't express it in a way I should have.  I was TOO blunt for once.  I upset them before by not saying anything when something upset me because I wanted to wait and talk things out calmly.  They wanted me to be honest.  So this time I was.  Just not very nice about it.  Kicking myself right now, but I can't change what was said.  Hopefully they'll forgive me.

So here is me being honest.  I'm selfish and crude and at times straight out rude, but I will always be honest with you.  If people can't handle this, than they probably shouldn't be around me.  A lot of the pain lately has been my fault, or at least a good part of it has been.  Things are definitely still changing and I'm trying to roll with it, even if it is difficult.  I'm off to see an old friend who is moving, the one mentioned about two posts ago who hurt me.  Bad idea?  Probably, but I'm wanting to be the bigger person.  Honestly?  I missed my best guy friend and would like one last goof off together.  Wish me luck...

HP Challenge? I accept!!

Maybe this will get me out of my non-posting slump and keep my spirits up!  I found this fun little challenge.  Since I'm such an HP nerd, it's right up my alley.

Sooo... Day 1.  My favorite is definitely book 7.  It brought the most emotion out of me.  There was soooo much going on too.  Although I did cry when Cedric died and my heart about beat out of chest when Harry couldn't rescue Ron during the Triwizard Tournament... such a hard choice!!!

Which is YOUR favorite???

Can I just Sleep until All This Goes Away? February sucks...

I hate hate hate February... I have for years now... First off, why the hell should a rodent be able to tell me how much longer winter is going to be?  How about we just go with the official dates?

Sorry had to get that lil rant out of the way before I got serious...

I hate cold, it just makes all the bad shit that this month seems to include even harder to handle.

Nine years ago this Valentine's Day, my granny died after a long, painful struggle with cancer.  I love my mother to death, but it's still hard to get over the fact that she wasn't going to tell me until that night, if then, and then made me go to school after finding out.  I have this weird ability to feel when something isn't right.  I woke up way early that morning because of one of those feelings.  I walked into the kitchen to my mom crying silently on the phone and getting the details.  It was the worst day of my high school career.  My high school best friend laughed at me and watched me cry all because she was mad at me for who I was dating (we have since become good friends again).  Even my high school sweetheart wasn't all that supportive.  I haven't been able to handle V-Day since... and this is my first year in a long time having to deal with it alone.  I don't know how I'm going to do it.

This feeling has been compounded over the last few years with my ex's own loathing of this month.  It's not my place to speak of it, but I will say watching the man I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with in so much pain was excruciating.  Nothing I did eased his pain, no matter how much I wanted to take it away.  As far as I know, he's in the same boat as I am this year:  dealing alone.

2012 was supposed to be a new beginning.  It might still be.  However, the curse of February seems to continue to lurk in the shadows, no matter how much better things have gotten.

I was accosted last week.  Where I was bit still has no feeling, and the teeth marks are still slightly visible.  Everything else is physically okay now.  While it may have been a drunken accident for the most part, the fact that I was both physically and emotionally hurt makes every day difficult to wake up to.  I lost my best guy friend in it all... And a good old friend... I realize that if I lost people in this, they may not have been meant to stay in my life, but it's still hard.  He was the one I went to for everything.  When things between my ex and I were very very volatile, he was my shoulder, my rock.  When I thought I was being physically threatened by someone, he dropped everything to stay with me so I could sleep and feel safe.  We were complete opposites in so many ways, but at the same time we were like the same person.  I feel more alone than I have in a very long time... 9 years to be exact...  It makes the pain from the past feel raw and new again...

To top it all off, someone I have just started to get to know, but had an instant connection with was just arrested today on a bogus charge... Our wonderful Oklahoma justice system at work... I won't give any details for this one, except to say that it is killing my girl Twala... She introduced us.  This girl is such an inspiration to me.  She deals with so much and gets little to nothing in return.  I just hope this doesn't break her spirit.  That would kill me.

This post has me in tears... I haven't really expressed most of this fully in a long time, if at all.  I just don't want to feel alone right now, it's too hard when I don't have my mom right down the hall or a few minutes away at the most.  I think this was more for me than anything else.  I needed to get it all out.  Maybe a little bit for those who care enough to read it and figure out what I'm going through at the moment.  I apologize in advance for any moodiness or depressing days you may have to endure if you see me on a regular basis.

Can I just sleep until February is over?

Say what?!? Saturday

I realized the other day that I DO still have some of those random ass pictures from around the metro area that I wanted to use for a weekly feature.  I know I've talked about it a few times, but now I'm doin it.  So here it is, my first installment of Say what?!? Satuday.

That is one really big Keebler Elf!!!

Holiday Madness

I don't know about everyone else, but the holidays always stress me out.  This year was no different.  I ended up having to work on Christmas Eve, which sucked ass we weren't busy enough to justify being open, and when I got off work early that afternoon I baked FOUR batches of cookies to take to our family Christmas that evening.  I also cooked dinner for the ex and his step-sister before they left town.  (so nice of me... I really need to stop being so damn nice, makes him think he can walk all over me and treat me like shit...)

All of this, plus cleaning, made me late for our traditional evening festivities.  Add to that taking a wrong exit to a place I go to at least once a month, and you have one stressed out Sassy Miss...

When I FINALLY got back on the right road I realized I had forgotten the cookies.  I spent hours baking and left them on my damn cabinet in the festive red tub I had bought just for this occasion... I also had forgotten the foreign-cheese tray I had made up (I was broke this year so I did food).

Upon getting to Gigi's house, things went rather smoothly.  I watched the kids open presents.  Watched all the adults do the same.  I didn't even care that I wasn't opening anything, I love watching all of their faces and seeing all the knickknacks.

Story of the night:  "Wanna feel my ball?"  Uncle B got a rubbery handsized football from my dad and was asking all the women above 18 this.  Lots of laughs all around with this one.

The next day we had our traditional Christmas lunch.  Unfortunately Granny Barb and Grandpa Del are not with us anymore (haven't been for a few years) so it was different than I'm used to (still different anyway).  However, we did have them there in spirit.

Grandpa Del and his favorite soda at lunch.
The girls had me video them cooking our lunch.  I tried to upload it but mom's computer won't let me :(

My family is a riot!

I ended up getting a really really nice new camera from my mother.  She threatened poor Tank's life if he got ahold of this one--which I totally understand due to this and this.  Of course you know this means no more boring, pictureless posts; unless I'm just feeling boring or lazy.

The ex got Tank and Cleo a stocking full of toys and a huge rawhide for Christmas.  I told them it was from Santa for obvious reasons.  I was a little more practical: a new collar/leash for Cleo and a bed for Tank's brandnew HUGE crate since hard plastic is uncomfortable (which now needs a good washing... damn dog lol).  Here are the kids with their presents:

After all this craziness, I had New Year's Eve.  This could be a post all on it's own but I'm lazy, it's getting late, and I have an episode of Vampire Diaries to watch!

Oh NYE... such crazy fun.  Well, it ended that way, didn't start that way.  The ex and I got into a huge fight when I went to pick him up to find masks for later that night.  Needless to say, we are no longer in contact except to update each other on family health issues (both our fathers just had cancer scares this week, his father's test hasn't come back yet...).  The rest of the night went off pretty damn well though.

The first stop of the night was a Business on Top, Party on Bottom party in the neighboring town.  Twala and I got lost trying to find it, as did the car we were following (they lost us and found it...).  It was kinda low key.  A good handful of people, margaritas, and general goodtimes.  Twala ended up having to leave early, so I road with my friend CC and the others to our main party of the night, a masquerade (can't be topped right?  wrong.  It was at a Dr. Suess-like house!)

I invited my new Irish friend I had met a few nights before at Bison Witches.  He's funny and adorable.  Apparently he's interested, but we'll see how that goes considering my recent situation.  I also ran into a guy I hadn't seen in over a year, MW.

(MW and I met at our house warming party the ex and I and our roommates at the time had.  None of the four of us knew him or his friend that came along.  In fact, they showed in their work clothes and many people thought they were cops.  Being the badass protective person I am, I met them halfway through the yard to make sure they weren't just party crashing or trying to arrest us.  Needless to say, he ended up making out with another guest and being the center of gossip that night!)

No one kissed at midnight.  We missed it actually.  Depressing right?  Not really, I think we all just ended up walking around the house kissing each other saying "happy new year" for the rest of the night, haha.  I played some champagne pong and lost horribly.  I think I had a bottle and a half by myself that night, but it really doesn't do much for me anymore.  Played some card games, smoked some hookah (if you haven't tried this stuff, you must!  It's legal and so much fun), and danced.  Of course there was a little drunken drama, but that is expected, nothing that ruined anyone's night.

When I got home the next afternoon, I spent the rest of the day in bed.  You know it was a good NYE when you wake up at like 8pm the next day!  I would give you more details, but they're private (yes I do remember the whole night lol).  How about we settle for some pictures?

My kickass hair and makeup for the night!

2011 In Retrospect

Here I sit waiting impatiently for the year on my computer to change.  No I'm not going to be sitting here watching the seconds tick by, I'm going to be out celebrating the end of a trying year and the beginning of MY year.

2011 has been one of the hardest years I have had to bare in my 23 (almost 24!!) years.  Don't get me wrong, there have been many wonderful things as well, but this was my year to be broken and reborn.

Financial difficulties have plagued me mostly, as well has health issues.  I spent half my summer in the sweltering Oklahoma heat wave without air conditioning.  Tank, bless is chaotic soul, ate my camera (and source of extra spending money...).  Roxi got copper poisoning and made the kitchen look like a scene out of a Friday the 13th movie.  I've come close to losing my job.  Matt and I ended things and have been somewhat rocky ever since (currently things are great as friends).  Bestie turned her back on me (oh, I didn't tell you guys about that one... another time maybe...).  My Sooners lost in Bedlam... ugh...  I've a nasty, white trash person thinking they are better than me and bash me publicly, when in fact they can't lift a candle to my inner beauty and integrity.  My Meme had to have brain surgery but nothing was found, so they have to start over from the beginning to save her.  I've been screwed over, chewed up, spit out, walked all over, and made to feel completely worthless.

But despite all of that, I can honestly say this year was an important step in me figuring out more of who I am and where I'm going.  I have grown so much stronger.  I know what I deserve and how worth it I am.  I know who I can count on to be here for me no matter how "stupid" I'm being or how "dangerous" the road I've chosen may be.  Tank and I have learned that we can make it on our own; we've even added a little one to the family, Cleo the miniature schnauzer.  I have decided to undertake the steps I have to take to get my Masters' of Psychology (focus on abnormal psychology) and then join the military as an officer.  I've started eating right, experimenting with recipes and foreign foods (CHEESE!!!).  I lost 50 lbs in the last year and have almost reached my goal weight, so I started focusing more on toning than losing now.  I have come into my own in the social, dating, and sexual aspects of myself.  I told my mother the truth about so many things this year, we have become closer.

I may have been broken into tiny, minute pieces, but I'm picking them back up one by one with the help of those who love me.  I am a strong, independent woman.

My resolutions this year are pretty simple: become a better me (both physically and emotionally), stay focused, and become a better friend to those who have been to me (including you guys!).

I will be sure to come back next year with lots of pictures and stories to share with you.  You know how I get, haha.

I'm going to go do my makeup now, lil miss Cleo is telling me I need to stepping on my keyboard and licking my face.

Have a safe and wonderful New Year!!  I love you all!

Love!!!

Borrowed Christmas Sentiments

Christmas is coming,
My ass is getting fat.
The kids have all gone mental
And the dog just shat.

I'm oddly rather horny —
Just a quickie shag'll do.
If you can't put out for Christmas
Then really, fuck you.

Christmas is coming,
I don't mean to be a crank,
But get your shit together
And then I want a spank.

There's so much crap to do
And I hate to be so blunt.
But after all the chores are done
You need to lick my cunt.

Your folks are staying over
A tiny piece of Hell.
I think I've more than earned
For you to ring my bell.

This time of year is when
I really start to twitch
'Cos Christmas is coming...
Ain't she a lucky bitch.

I borrowed this wonderful little poem from a good friend of mine, Lady Estrogen.  This is basically how I feel about the holiday season.  Just gimme a good roll in the hay or a quickie now and then, and I'm content with that present.

I'll update you guys tomorrow on the craziness that is my family Christmas's.  I even have videos this year!!

I hope you all got exactly what/who you wanted this year!!!

FOOOOOD!!!!!

I have been making some AMAZING new concoctions in my kitchen here lately.  Well, mostly E&C's kitchen but whatever.  I'm trying out something completely new to me tonight.  I always play it safe with chicken dishes, but I wanted a challenge tonight.  And let's face it, I'm sick of chicken at the moment.  So I went to Homeland and bought some fresh salmon, a veggie mix (celery, onions, and mushrooms), and some imported cheeses.

You know my love of wines, so of course I love cheese!  That, and my dad and I used to try all the cheeses at the deli when I was a kid.

I digress.

So I sauteed the veggies in olive oil, basically until they were hot.  Squeezed about a quarter of a lemon onto the salmon, followed by coarse black pepper, greek seasoning, and this strange lil salad seasoning I found at Big Lots (Salad Jazz in tomato basil) (also put some on the veggies).

Preheat the over to 350 ish.  Depends on how fast you want to cook it.  I like slow cooking meat because it keeps it from getting crunchy on the edges.  Top the salmon with the veggies.  Pop in the oven.

The only thing I know about timing salmon in the oven is that it's done when it's dry looking (thanks for the useful tip dad... lol).

It is currently in the oven as I type.  My apartment smells delectable, just saying.

The cheeses I bought were a French hickory smoked rambol and what they called Drunken Goat Cheese (the rind is treated with a red wine).  I can't decide which I want tonight.  I may just try small pieces of both.

And the finished product:

It looks interesting but tastes oh so good!  The greek seasoning really brings out the salmon flavor.

I know, I know, styrofoam plates are sooooo classy, but hey when you don't have anything else you do what you can.  The purple rind is the goat cheese, the orange is the rambol.  Both go well with the salmon, but I prefer the goat cheese.  The flavor isn't all that strong so it doesn't compete with the fish.  The rambol has a strong after taste, which while it goes well with the rest of the dish, isn't what I would usually pair with it.

I'm off to enjoy the rest of my meal!  Happy cooking and Merry Christmas!!

Love!!

Story of my life

You know you have an interesting life when you wind up in handcuffs on a friend's couch with a beer in your hand while watching Shawshank Redemption...

This is the story of my life.  Well... except it was my first time ever in handcuffs, haha!

The single life of a broken woman in Oklahoma

Remember when I said that I didn't know if I was going to like this whole being single bit?  Well it sucks sleeping alone so much.  It's a financial bitch living on my own.  Cooking for one is pointless most of the time, so I cook rarely anymore, unless it's for friends.

However, I think I could get used to this.  I like not having to worry about cleaning up after anyone but the dogs and myself.  I like only buying groceries once a month.  I love not having to share shower and closet space with anyone else.

But what do I love most?  Being able to go out whenever I want with whomever I want.  I have had so many new experiences lately.  My poor liver is probably going to commit homicide in the next few years, but my alcohol tolerance has never been higher.  I'm pretty sure I can drink any man under the table any day of the week.

I have been graduated from college for a year officially.  I thought by now I would be engaged, be putting money back for a house, be starting my career, and finally have a stable life.  Damn was I wrong!  I'm single, broke, still at my receptionist position, and am riding a roller coaster of financial, personal, and public difficulties.  I am still in love with Matt.  He has moved on and breaks my heart more each day.  I relive the things he did to me, I did to him, and we did to each other every other moment; how we hurt and tore each other apart.

Despite all of this, I'm happy most of the time.  I have come to realize who my true friends are.  I'm learning who I am.  I finding new ways of enjoying myself.  Even realized that I have a few fetishes that are shared by many.  I live to make myself happy.  I'm indulging in pleasures I have never experienced and some I have but was never able to fully appreciate.

I am starting a new life.  One where I have to completely rebuild myself; rebuild my self confidence, make myself stronger, and repair the gaping hole in my heart.  I wake up each day wondering what new things await me.  I make sure I have something to smile about as often as possible.  I'm keeping my options open and my head held high.

I am broken.  I am lost.  I am empty.  I cry myself to sleep often.  I have allowed myself to be used an abused more than once.  I feel alone in a crowd of those who love me.  I drink away my pain.

I accept this all as my penitence.  I am happy to rebuild myself and learn more about myself, even if it hurts to do so.  I respect myself more than ever.  I am a strong, beautiful woman that has more to offer the world than the world is ready for, that any man would be blessed beyond belief to say is his, that will make a difference in the lives of many.

And this is the single life of a broken woman in Oklahoma.

Two Days

Two days...

Two days until they cut into Meme's head...

Two days until they cut into Meme's head and roto-rooter her main artery...

I was finally given a date for Meme's surgery: Tuesday.  I'm more nervous than she is, I think.  I'm not entirely sure how to deal with the thought of this.

A lil background...

Meme is my paternal grandmother, and the only grandparent I have left.  When I was younger, I spent the majority of my summers in Tulsa at her house.  We'd go swimming, shopping, camping, watch movies, cook, read, take walks, and just sit and talk.

She basically raised my brother and I for half of our childhood.  I don't know what I would do if I lost her.  Not now.

A little over two years ago, my mother's uncle died.  He treated my brother and I like we were grandchildren.  He was, in fact, the only grandfather we really knew on that side of the family.  It was very sudden.  One month we were told he had to have a mucus ball removed from his lung, and not much later we were visiting him in the hospital as he was dying of lung cancer.  It took until the following July for his daughters to start going through the house.  I ended up with many of his wife's elephants that she has spent her life collecting from around the world.  Granny Barb had died several years before that from the same type of lung cancer.

I say all this to explain why I wouldn't be able to handle a bad outcome.  I only just recently found out about her issues, so I still haven't quite gotten over the initial shock.  She means the world to me.  I'd lose it if I lost her.

Bubba and Meme

Prayers, thoughts, good juju, whatever you do and believe in would be much appreciated.

My bad you guys...

It has been a really difficult few months for me.  First, I started living on my own for the first time ever.  Taking care of myself and two pups is challenging but I like it.  My neighbors are for the most part all really nice.  I just wish some of them wouldn't party until 6 in the morning on random nights of the week.  The pups like it.

Unfortunately now I have to deal with the fact that my Meme is going to have brain surgery soon.  If I wasn't alone so much, it wouldn't really be that difficult, but I've never had to deal with big things like that on my own.  Apparently my parents have known that she hasn't been doing well for awhile.  The main artery in her brain is blocked and causing her to have blackouts.  I've been told the surgery is fairly routine, at least when it comes to brain surgery.  I'm still in a little bit of shock.  Sadly, I've been somewhat drinking my worries away lately.  I'm in good company so I haven't been going completely crazy, but I know it's not how I should be dealing.

I have a few stories for you guys, but I thought I would just give you this quick update before I leave town to go see my Meme.  I think I may end up having to create an anonymous blog for those stories though.  If I do, I'll email the link to those that are interested.

After this weekend, I'm going to start that feature I mentioned months ago: random things around the metro area.  Not sure what I'm going to call it yet, but I have saved up enough pictures that it should last awhile.

Hope everyone is having a happy fall.

Love!!
